Forty-Two

It’s 2020, so there are a lot of ups and downs that come with that but I have to say that 41 has been an excellent year. A few highlights: TEENAGERS: Holy Teenagers, Batman! We have three at the moment, plus Ava, who is 10. This has been one of the toughest experiences of parenting for us. That thing they tell you, about how teenagers brain lobes disconnect and start to reform? It’s true. Our very intelligent little ones are going through a phase of impaired judgement, obliviousness and challenge. I don’t think I do well with it. Katrina is, …

Forty-One

What a year! In many ways, my forty-first year was the best of my life. Here are some highlights. Katrina went back to work part time. She works about 20 hours/week at a Physical Therapist office and it’s been good. There has been a lot of questioning about whether she should be home more or if it’s fine and I’d say all in all it’s worked out just fine. I started my new job as a Software Engineering Manager at O.C. Tanner. In a couple of weeks it will have been a year and it’s been the most challenging and …

Forty

A new decade. A LOT of change lately. My 40th year has been full of happiness and sprinkled with sadness. Many of the bigger events having happened in the last week. Here’s an overview, with pictures after that. My sister, Harmony Gwenivere Rasmusson Moody, passed away a week ago at the all too young age of 34. Her memorial/funeral was yesterday, on my 40th birthday. It was wonderful to be with family and to celebrate her life, but of course, sad as well. My Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in January. He was given several months to …

Thirty-Nine

Better late than never, right? What a year! I just reviewed my Thirty-Eight post and a lot has happened since then. Luckily none of the major three items have changed: family-size, employer or address. Kids are doing awesome and are now aged 7 to 14. Super weird. I guess it’ll never not freak me out a bit to state how old my children are.  They grow so fast. Let’s see, here are some highlights of my 38th year of life. We decided to sell our little kid playhouse in the backyard and build a big kid clubhouse. We literally finished it …

2016 In Review

The turning of the year always makes me reflect back on how very much has happened in those 365 days. This year has not seen as much change as years past but it’s been a great year. Family Just a month ago, our youngest, Ava, turned 7. Seven! I can’t believe that. Anders is about to turn 14 (on Friday). Fourteen! It’s nuts. We let Anders stop taking piano lessons this year, as he’s pretty decent at it and has been playing the Piano in the Jazz band. He continues to play the French Horn in band as well (he’s …

Thirty-Eight

It’s that time of year again – time for my annual blog post, prompted by a birthday. As usual I took the day off for my birthday again and we had a fun day playing, sleeping in, furniture shopping and then going to the temple with family. Thirty-seven was an excellent year. Some highlights, in no particular order: We started and finished the basement – kind of a huge deal for us We took a road trip to Virginia and Tennessee for the 2016 RaRaRa reunion Two of my YouTube videos surpassed one millions views each. Nice. Also started getting …

4A Observations and Piñata Pics

It’s been a good year so far. Kids are back in school and doing well. Ava just turned six, so we’re enjoying the 35 days of having evenly spaced ages for our kids: 6, 8, 10 and 12. Anders will be an official teenager in one month, but he’s been acting like one for a little while now. He’s a good kid, no doubt about it, but we are starting to see some of the brain lobe separation going on. As they say in Portuguese, “coitado dele” (poor boy). I just did the (somewhat) monthly video interviews with the kids …

Feeling Quite Blessed Lately

I’ve always considered myself to be a grateful person. When I give thanks while praying, my list is long and varied and I do my best to recognize God’s hand in all of these blessings. I also try to express my gratitude to my wife and my family, though I could do better there. For the last several months I have been feeling particularly blessed. For a million reasons. My last post, Thirty-Seven, was very short because I spent two and a half hours or so writing an in-depth catch up of my 37th year only to have it all disappear …

Thirty-Seven

I just wrote a huge post. It took two hours. I went to add a featured image and it all went bye bye. That sucks. I’m in no mood to retype it all. So here’s what you get. We bought a new house. I got a new job. I ran a marathon. Katrina and kids are great. I’m getting fatter. [envira-gallery id=”660″]

Thirty-Six

Go Nilsy, it’s yo’ Birfday! While my blogging has been sporadic at best, I’ve been pretty consistent at posting around my birthday each year lately, so I thought I’d get up early and continue the tradition. My 36th year of life has been pretty great. Here are a few facts, stats and updates that may or may not recall ten years from now. The Fam: We made it through another year of school, lots of fun as a family and even a successful road trip with no vans breaking down. The kiddos, now aged 11, 9, 7 and 4, are all …
